Behind Practical Editions
Practical Editions was founded by Teresa Fernandes with a simple idea: hosting resources should be genuinely useful, not just beautifully designed.
The studio combines hospitality experience, guest perspective, ongoing research into the challenges hosts face and a practical approach to organisation and property operations.
Rather than creating products simply because they can be sold as digital downloads, we start with the problem first.
What are hosts struggling with? What information is difficult to organise? What repetitive task could be made simpler?
Those questions shape both the resources we create and the articles we publish.
Sometimes the right solution is a checklist.
Sometimes it is an editable template.
Sometimes it is a more detailed planner, manual or operating resource.
And sometimes the most useful thing we can provide is clear guidance rather than another product.
Our Story
Practical Editions was created from a passion for hospitality, organisation and helping people simplify everyday tasks.
For more than three decades, I lived in the Cascais and Estoril region of Portugal, one of Europe’s best-known coastal destinations and a place where tourism and holiday rentals are part of everyday life.
Living in such a strong hospitality environment gave me an appreciation for the small details that can make a guest’s stay feel easier, more comfortable and more thoughtfully organised.
Over the years, I stayed in many holiday apartments and rental homes myself and developed an understanding of the guest experience from first-hand experience.
I also have close friends who own and manage holiday studios and apartments, giving me valuable insight into the day-to-day challenges hosts face, from preparing properties and organising information to maintaining consistent standards between stays.
Alongside this, I spent years working in hospitality, where organisation, consistency, preparation and attention to detail are essential.
Those same principles apply to holiday rentals, where clear systems and good preparation can make a significant difference to both the host and the guest experience.
As I began looking more closely at the resources available to holiday rental hosts, I noticed the same problems appearing repeatedly.
Many templates were difficult to customise.
Many guides contained unnecessary information.
Many digital products looked attractive but were not particularly practical.
Practical Editions was created to take a different approach.
